George Allard

george-allardI grew up in Dauphin immersed in a large and active family of outdoor enthusiasts and the rigors of a family owned business. My father was an avid sportsman and made sure we took full advantage of the wonderful opportunities available in the Parkland area. Fond memories of hunting, fishing, skiing, sailing, hockey and a close, friendly community led me to return to the Parkland to raise my own family.

My wife Carol and I live in Onanole and have raised four children. I enjoy sailing, cross country skiing, hockey with the NHL (noon hour league!), cooking, and various do-it-yourself home renovation projects.

After graduating from Business Administration at Red River College I began my career in accounting as an internal auditor with a large national company which gave me a good grounding in auditing and accounting systems and processes. I travelled throughout western Canada conducting audits in various retail outlets.

My next career experience was with Revenue Canada. I audited small and medium businesses throughout Manitoba gaining valuable knowledge and experience in taxation rules and legislation. After graduating from the Certified General Accounting program in 1984, I made the move back to the Parkland area and entered public practice with my uncle Allan Allard providing accounting and taxation services. I have been in public practice for 28 years now.

The Certified General Accountants Association provides resources and education and training opportunities that allow us to offer the best possible service to our clients. I am proud to have served the association as chapter chairperson in the Dauphin area and as a provincial board member. In 2009 I was honoured to receive my FCGA designation.

After 30 years I can still say I love my work. I work with a wide variety of clients and situations which makes each day interesting. I appreciate getting to know my clients and am grateful to all of them for continuing to support the growth of our practice.

Dauphin and the Parkland area is a wonderful place to live and work and I look forward to many more years of business, recreation and community service.

On January 2015 Allard, Yakubchak, Wirch was dismantled and I partnered with Howard Wirch to open Accent Chartered Professional Accountants.
